As per section 404 (1) (L) of the Municipalities Act, 1999 which states: A council may make an order that (1) the owner or occupier of real property remove from that property, solid waste, noxious substances and substances or things which may be a hazard to public health and safety or which adversely affects surrounding properties.

And as per section 404 (1)(F) of the Municipalities Act, 1999 which states: where a building is in a dilapidated state, or is, in the opinion of the council, unfit for human habitation, or another use for which it is then being used, or is a public nuisance, the owner or occupier is to pull down, remove, fill in or otherwise destroy the building and restore the site to its original state, or make the disposition or alteration of the building that the order directs.

WHEREAS your property at 188 Main Road. in the Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm, Province of Newfoundland & Labrador may pose a hazard to public health and safety and adversely affects the amenities of the surrounding properties.

What? Science camp is designed to illustrate the fun and excitement that science has to offer. Kids will have a chance to find out how science is a part of our everyday lives. They have fun in this interactive and hands on learning camp while they are learning about science.

Who? This camp is open to boys and girls starting kindergarten in September up to the age of 13 that are interested in learning about the world around them. The camp will be organized in two age groups. Anyone between the ages 14 – 18 interested in volunteering as a camp leader to assist with the camp are also welcomed.

Where? Roddickton‐Bide Arm – Gerry Byrne Room.

Business are reminded that it is a civic holiday which has been declared by Council under the Provincial Shop Closing Act. All businesses, unless they are exempted under the Act, are required to be closed on that day.

The Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm is seeking the services of an energetic and vibrant applicant with a combination of educational training and work experience to fulfill the duties of Part Time Town Clerk.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to, filling in for the Town Clerk in their absence, overseeing projects and is responsible such as cash receipts, accounts payable, financial recording, working with the public and other office duties.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications, the Town reserves the right to evaluate based on work experience and education;

1. Diploma in Office Administration preferably with a concentration in Accounting from an accredited institution would be an asset
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
3. Computer training and experience
4. Be fairly proficient and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, email etc.
5. A working knowledge of computer accounting
6. Combined education and experience will be considered
7. Be bondable

BOIL ORDER – Portion of Circular Road

Residents of Circular Road: Effective IMMEDIATELY, July 13, 2015  a BOIL ORDER is in effect from 2 Dawes Lane/ the intersection of Circular Avenue to 25 Circular Avenue and all points in between. Please boil water for at least five minutes for consuming and brushing teeth.

Registration will take place at the Green Moose Interpretation Centre for both on:
Thursday, July 2 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm

Kids Summer Recreation Program
Age: Children going to Kindergarten in September up to age of 12 years old.
Kindergarten children must be accompany by an adult.
Start Date: Tuesday, July 7
End Date: Friday, Aug 14
Cost: $ 20 per Child
Location: Gerry Byrne Room
Children will be involved in active activities held outside when possible.

Swimming Lessons (Space is limited, based on first registered)
The Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm is please to offer Red Cross Swimming Lessons.
Lessons offered this summer:
Tots to Level 10 ($ 25 for first child and $ 15 for additional siblings plus
swimming pool fee of $3.00 per lesson attended.
Booklets of 8 tickets can be purchased at the pool for $20.00
which can be used in place of the $ 3.00 fee.)
Bronze Medallion ($150.00)
Bronze Cross ($150.00)
Bronze Cross and Medallion will be a weekend for each.
Tentative Start Date: Wednesday, July 8
Number of lessons: 8 to 12

Cost: All fees are non-refundable.

Moose Festival Cancellation

It is with reluctance that Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm announces the cancellation of the planned Moose Festival for this summer due to the lack of volunteers. The festival will be attempted again next year hopefully with many people coming forward to help.
