Petition

A petition is circulating the community to call on the reinstatement of the Northern Residence Deduction for the Great Northern Peninsula of NL. If you wish to sign the petition they are located at Irving, Western Petroleum, the Town Office, and Pharmachoice. Hopefully the petition will be at other locations within Town over the next few days.

Tax Bill Information

Residents will receive their tax bill within the next few days.

Quick Facts
• Bills are due upon receipt.
• A 10% discount will be given on all 2017 residential taxes which are paid in full by April 30, 2017.
• All business taxes which are paid in full by April 30, 2017 will be given a 5% discount.
• There is no discount on the garbage collection fee
• Interest on all unpaid 2017 taxes will begin on July 1st, 2017
• The Town accepts cash, cheque, debit, visa and mastercard*. However, no discount can be given if taxes are paid by visa or mastercard.
• Payment plans are available. Please contact the office for further details.
• The invoice will say water and sewer charge. However, if the charge is $ 272 you being charge for water only. The charge for water and sewer is $ 400.
• Calculation of property tax
The current mil rate for residential is 6 mils

Mils x Property Value
= Property Tax Charged
1,000

Eg. If you property is values at $ 75,000.

(6 x 75,000) / 1000 = $ 450
The charge is $450 for property tax.

Please note if the amount falls below $ 325, the charge will be $ 325.

*The debit machine is currently not working. It is expected we will have a replacement machine within two weeks.

Keys to Mailboxes

Notice to Bide Arm Residents:

The Town has been informed keys to the new locks for the mailboxes in Bide Arm can be picked up from Canada Post in Roddickton anytime after 3:00 pm today, Jan 3, 2016.

The locks will not be installed for a few days. The new keys will not work until that is done.

Lost Dog

The Town has been contacted by the Owner of a dog named Haley who was lost between Roddickton and Bide Arm. The owner is a truck driver from St. John’s. If you see this dog please Doug or Roxanne at 770-6414 or Susan at 769-1679.

Winners Announced of the Community Beautification Contest

Congratulations are extended to the following winners of the Community Beautification Contest:

3rd Place – Nancy and Baine Pilgrim
2nd Place – Ethel and Matthew Randell
1st Place – Ralph and Tamar Randell

Evaluation was based on three criteria:
1. Tidiness and overall appearance of property
2. Landscaping
3. Floral Displays

Winners receive the following cash prizes: 1st place -$ 250, 2nd place – $150 and 3rd place – $ 100. Thank You Roddickton House and the judges Keith Ollerhead and Maxine Hiscock.

Roddickton-Bide Arm Day

Civic Holiday

Monday, August 1, 2016 is declared as Roddickton-Bide Arm Day.

Business are reminded that it is a civic holiday which has been declared by Council under the Provincial Shop Closing Act. All businesses, unless they are exempted under the Act, are required to be closed on that day.
