Recreation Coordinator

Applications are being invited from qualified individuals for Recreation Coordinator under JCP. This call for application is to gage interest in the position from qualified individuals. Funding has not been received at this point.
The individual will oversee all recreational activities, work with the Recreation Committee and the Town to promote exercise and healthy living, oversee the arena and swimming pool.
Successful applicant must meet the following qualifications:
• be able to work independently and follow instructions
• capable of working in adverse weather conditions
• be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada;
• are unemployed
• have a current claim for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or had an unemployment benefit period that ended within the 36 months (3 years) prior to date of requesting assistance.

Epilepsy Day
March 26 has been proclaimed as Purple Day for Epilepsy Day. 10,000 people in NL have epilepsy. The Town will show individuals and families who face Epilepsy that we understand, and they are not alone: we will wear purple.
Volunteer Week
Volunteer Week 2015
Volunteer Week provides an opportunity to express gratitude to the many dedicated volunteers in our community who give freely of their time.
This year’s theme is “the many faces of volunteering.” Anyone can be a volunteer.
The Town is sending an invitation to all volunteers to join them at a volunteer ‘Thank You’ event during the week of April 13 -17, 2015. The event will be held at the Gerry Byrne Room starting at 6:30 pm. Finger foods will be available along with certificates for individuals in attendance. The date will follow in the next few days.
If you will be attending please contact the Town office at 457-2413 to have your name added to the list.

LIFEGUARD/INSTRUCTOR
for Roddickton-Bide Arm Swimming Pool for the 2015 summer season.
Minimum Qualifications:
• National Lifeguard or Current Bronze Cross;
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
• St. John Ambulance Safety Oriented Emergency
• Standard First Aid
• Any or all other training and certification required to work as a Swimming Instructor.

Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm
The Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm is now accepting applications for the position of Town Clerk. The Town is seeking the services of an energetic and vibrant applicant with a combination of educational training and work experience to fulfill the duties of Town Clerk.
Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to, acting as secretary to the Town Manager and as Corporate Secretary to Council; attending meetings of council and functions, and being responsible for the safekeeping of all documents and records. The Clerk will also act as Treasurer and is responsible for such things as payroll, cash receipts, accounts payable, financial recording, working with the public and similar duties. All other duties as outlined in the Municipalities Act.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have the following qualifications, the Town reserves the right to evaluate based on work experience and education;
1. A degree or certificate in financing program/course from an accredited institution would be an asset
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
3. Computer training and experience
4. Be fairly proficient and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, email etc.
5. A working knowledge of computer accounting
6. Combined education and experience will be considered
7. Be bondable
