Bide Arm Water Shut Off

Bide Arm residents are to be advised that the water will be off at 1:30 pm today, Oct 17, 16 for approximately an hour in order to complete regular maintenance. A boil order will be in effect until further notice.

Remembrance Day 2016

The Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm will be hosting the Remembrance Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11, 2016. Any resident/group who would like to participate in the ceremony either by singing or reading a poem are asked to contacted the Office at 457-2413. In the event there are a large of persons/groups interested names will be drawn.

Interest parties who will be laying a wreath are also asked to contact the office with your name.

Waste Collection for the Town of Roddickton will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 15.

Temporary Position
Approximately 10 Weeks – Approximate Start Date: October 24, 2016

Applications are being invited from qualified individuals for one (1) Forman and six (6) Labourers under JCP.

Individuals will be involved in the construction of floating docks in Roddickton-Bide Arm. All duties involve physical labour, including but not limited to carpentry work.

Successful applicants must meet the following qualifications:
• Be able to work independently and follow instructions,
• Capable of working in adverse weather conditions,
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada,
• Are unemployed, and
• Have a current claim for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits or had an unemployment benefit period that ended within 36 months (3 years) prior to date of requesting assistance.

Lost Dog

The Town has been contacted by the Owner of a dog named Haley who was lost between Roddickton and Bide Arm. The owner is a truck driver from St. John’s. If you see this dog please Doug or Roxanne at 770-6414 or Susan at 769-1679.

Message from Norpen to residents
Good Morning Folks
As a follow up to the email sent to you on Thursday, Sept. 8 please disregard.  The new collection schedule for this week only will be as follows:
Bide Arm and Englee collected on Tuesday, Sept. 13
Roddickton collected on Saturday, Sept. 16.
As of Sept. 19 we will go back to Bide Arm & Englee on Monday and Roddickton on their regular day of Wednesday

Speeding

The Town has received a number of complaints pertaining to speeding in the Community. Please take note that the speed coming into Town close to Riffs has been reduced to 40 km/hr and remains that speed throughout the school zone. Concerns have been expressed along the Main Road in Bide Arm as well. This is a major safety concern. Please be mindful of your speed and respectful of pedestrians walking and biking. The RCMP will be policing the area.
