Reduction of the Inshore Shrimp Quota
Message from MHA Christopher Mitchelmore
As a Member of the All-Party Committee on Shrimp Allocations we are seeking public input. We will engage people impacted by the recent federal quota cuts, and will use information gained to make representation to the Federal Government.
The All party committee will press for fast action to address concerns of the people of this province. An email address and phone number has been set up to provide interested parties with an opportunity to provide feedback in writing. Those wishing to make in-person representation to the committee can request the opportunity to do so through this email address and phone number.
The committee has tentatively scheduled stakeholder engagements for Tuesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 24th to accommodate in person sessions and will schedule appointments based on demand and availability. If you are interested please make contact as soon as possible. Those cuts have the potential to have a devastating impact on plant workers, inshore fishers, businesses and communities. Email: allpartycommittee2014@gov.nl.ca or call during business hours (709) 729 1725.
Please share with anyone you feel may be interested in providing the committee with feedback.
Should you have any further questions, please contact me at your earliest.
Best regards,
Christopher Mitchelmore, MHA
