Help Us Rename the Gerry Byrne Room for the chance to win a free room rental and bragging rights!

Entering is easy: To enter your name suggestion, email the Town at roddickton@nf.aibn.com or drop it off to the office. The name cannot be that of a person. Anyone can enter, and you can submit as many suggestions as you like.

On Friday, July 12, we’ll collect all the name suggestions and the Council will then put a short list to vote via Facebook poll.

Splash Pad

The GNP Splash Pad Committee will be having a meeting at the Gerry Byrne Room on Thursday, June 27 at 6:00 pm. New members are welcome.

The Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm is requesting quotes for the following:
Excavator Hire per Hour
Dump Truck Hire per Hour
Crush Stone per Load
Blast Rock per Load

Quotes less hst will be received up to Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 12:00 pm. (Noon)

The lowest of any quote not necessarily accepted or awarded.

Job Opportunities

The Town has several job opportunities available. For those interested please apply before 4:00 pm on the deadlines listed.

Part Time Seasonal Maintenance Persons – Deadline Friday, May 17. This position will be seasonal each year.

Summer Positions (Pool Clerk, Kids Summer Recreation Program Workers, Museum Attendants, Fire Log Builders etc) – Do not have to be a student but must be between the age of 15 – 30. Deadline Friday, May 31, 2019

Kids Summer Recreation Program Supervisor (Non student position) – Deadline Friday May 31, 2019. Approximately 8 weeks

All job are insurable hours.

ICEBREAKER OPERATIONS STARTING MAY 4, 2019

PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE: RODDICKTON-BIDE ARM, NL AREA

CANADIAN COAST GUARD SHIP GEORGE R. PEARKES WILL BE CONDUCTING ICEBREAKING OPERATIONS IN BIDE ARM AND RODDICKTON, COMMENCING MAY 04 2019. PLEASE BE ADVISED THERE WILL BE OPEN WATER TRACKS IN THE FAST ICE, IN THE AREA.

REQUEST YOU TAKE ANY ACTION DEEMED APPROPRIATE TO NOTIFY RESIDENTS WHO MAY BE PLANNING TO TRANSIT THE AREA.

“CCG informs the local communities of the inherent risks of icebreaking activities. CCG cannot have absolute control on the behavior of the ice. Depending on various conditions, the ice can be pushed instead of broken and ice can crack or break far away from the location where the icebreaker is working. This can cause risks for the safety of people and property. The public is warned to act accordingly, i.e. refrain from walking on the ice; remove mobile equipment in advance of icebreaking activities; protect permanently non moveable property, for instance”.
