Message from Norpen
Please note that residents, towns etc. can subscribe to Norpen website by entering their e-mail address on our website page. This will result in updates added to the website being sent directly to those e-mail addresses. This might be a good idea for towns as this would keep you in touch with changes in collection schedule, etc. without us having to e-mail them to you directly. Would appreciate seeing your e-mail added to our website www.norpenservices.ca. Also, please inform your residents of this option and encourage them to sign up. Your support is appreciated as always. Thanks.

Guidelines on regular waste collection from Norpen
Message from Norpen on regular waste collection.
GUIDELINES FOR WASTE COLLECTION
• Curbside waste is collected year-round, once per week. For storm days and holidays the next possible collection day will be used. Changes to regular schedule will be announced @ norpenservices.ca and Norpen Facebook page (Norpen Waste) for all residents, and @ 709-454-3336 for residents of Subregions 1, 2, and 3.
• Waste must be in standard size garbage bags – ‘grocery bags’, ‘kitchen catchers’ and ‘large yard’ waste bags are not acceptable.
• Waste is to be at the curb (within 10 feet of the edge of pavement) by 8:00 a.m. on collection day.
• If waste bins are used for collection at the curb, they must be kept clean and tidy.
• Waste must be covered.
• Each bag must not exceed 35 pounds.
• Garbage bags must be tied before placing them at the curb.
• Broken glass, sharps, knives, and syringes must be clearly marked and packaged in a puncture-proof container. The marked container is to be placed at the curb separate from garbage bags.
• Containers of liquid, including paint will not be collected. Empty or dried out paint cans can be placed in a regular garbage bag with other household waste.
• Hazardous waste will not be collected; items, liquids or materials can be taken to the landfill site for disposal.
• Electronic waste such as televisions, computers, computer accessories, stereos, stereo components, etc. will not be taken during regular waste collection; these items will be collected during spring clean-up or can be taken to the landfill site for recycling.
• Ashes will not be collected.
• Cardboard must be put in tied up bags (standard garbage bags) or broken down and bundled, to measure no more than 2 feet by 2 feet by 1 foot.
• If residents are not in compliance with waste collection regulations, waste can be refused. For the first infraction, waste will be taken and a tag will be left noting the infraction. If the problem is not rectified on the following collection day, then waste will be refused.

Norpen has set the dates for clean up as follows:
– Roddickton, Wednesday, June 7 and 14
